Locate your water filter
Before you can remove your water filter, you need to know where it is located. The water filter on an LG fridge is typically located in the bottom right-hand corner of the appliance, behind the kick plate.
Turn the filter to the left
To remove your water filter, first locate it in the upper right-hand corner of your refrigerator. Once you have found it, twist the filter to the left until it pops out. If your filter is stuck, try twisting it to the right and then to the left.
Pull the filter out
To remove the water filter from your LG fridge, simply pull it out from the inside of the fridge. There is a small tab on the filter that you can grab onto to help you remove it. Be sure to insert the new filter in the same direction as the old one so that it will work properly.
Flush the water line
LG refrigerators are equipped with an automatic ice maker and a water dispenser. The ice maker produces ice cubes that are used in the refrigerator’s built-in ice bin. The water dispenser gives you cold, filtered water on demand. The water filter is located in the upper-right corner of the refrigerator compartment and filters the water before it reaches the ice maker and water dispenser. When it’s time to replace the filter, you’ll need to know how to remove it.
Insert the new filter
Water filters usually need to be replaced every 6 months. To remove the old water filter from your LG fridge, twist it counterclockwise until it pops out. Then, insert the new filter into the housing and twist it clockwise until it clicks into place.
Turn the filter to the right
Turn the filter to the right (clockwise). The filter should pop out easily. If it doesn’t, push on the filter release tab while you turn the filter (see pictures).
Plug your fridge back in
Before you can remove the water filter from your LG fridge, you need to unplug the fridge from the power outlet. This is to ensure your safety as well as the safety of your fridge. Once it is unplugged, locate the water filter cover on the front of your fridge. The cover is usually located on the bottom right of the front panel or on the inside wall of the fridge near the bottom.
Run water through the filter
Before you can remove the water filter from your LG refrigerator, you need to run water through it to clear out any debris that may be clogging it. To do this, simply remove the filter cap and hold the filter over a sink. Turn on the cold water and let it run through the filter for a few minutes. Once the water runs clear, you can replace the filter cap and proceed to the next step.
Enjoy your clean water!
LG refrigerators come with a water filter system built in. The filters help to remove contaminants from your water, making it healthier and better tasting. Over time, the filters can become clogged with sediment and other materials, which can reduce their effectiveness. For this reason, LG recommends that you replace your water filter every six months.
Fortunately, replacing the water filter is a quick and easy process. You can do it yourself in just a few minutes. Here’s how:
1. Start by locating the water filter housing inside your fridge. On most LG models, it will be located in the top right corner of the appliance.
2. Once you’ve located the housing, open the fridge door and pull out the old water filter cartridge. Make sure to supply clean water to your home during this time so you don’t have to go without while changing the filter!
3. Take the old cartridge to your local hardware store or wherever you purchased your replacement filter and find an identical model. Install the new filter by pushing it into the housing until it clicks into place.
4. Close up the housing and enjoy your clean, filtered water!
